Everyone says that after standard XII life would be very easy. Like every other student, even I was very nervous about my class 12 results and after the results were declared, I got to know that I had secured only 76%. I was extremely unhappy. I had always dreamt of being a main campus DU student but I couldn't get admission there. When I was filling the forms of various colleges, my mom asked me to fill in the form of Laxmibai College too just as an option – I have never thought that I will take admission in the same college. I filled the form and the day the first DU cut-off was announced I was depressed as I couldn't match up to the criteria. Then I went to Laxmibai. There was a girls’ quota as well as a quota for people who had English (elective) as a subject in class 12. Being from a Christian school we had English (elective) subject but that option was only for students who chose Humanities. I was from Humanities stream and I had English (elective) as a subject. First I thought that since I had I. P also in school, they will count those marks also in the best four, but then I was wrong. They denied that, and I was extremely worried. Next, they took my mark sheet and told me that I was selected for English (Hons.). That day was the best. Though I didn't want to get into that college, but I thought that at least I will be a DU student. I always thank my mom for all this. Had she not asked me to fill the college in the form I would have never been a DU student. So yes mom is the inspiration, and yes moms are always right.

College life started and it was great. Meeting new people, studying a new course and importantly not getting dressed in a uniform seemed fun. First day of college was awesome as one of my school friends was with me in the same course. The classes started at 10am in the morning and our first teacher came. She was beautiful and elegant she told us all about the course and how we can achieve what we want in our lives.

What I gained from my college years

The faculty of college was extremely good and they always helped us in everything, whether it was related to course or not. Exam time came and I was nervous as I was about to give first exam in the college. When I was revising near the examination hall, one of the teachers came and told me not to worry as everything would be fine. Exams went well.

Being a literature person I like to write a lot, so one day when my teacher asked if anyone wanted to submit articles for the college magazine and I said a yes. I submitted my article the very next day and my teacher was so impressed with my writing that she submitted that article for the inter college essay writing competition. I was extremely happy when my name was announced in front of the whole college and I received a certificate from the Principal of our college. College days were the best and I miss those days.
