Bihar to conduct MBBS, PG final-year medical exams amid Covid-19 safety protocols

While the fear of the third wave of Covid -19 looms in India, the Bihar government has decided to go ahead with the MBBS and PG final-year medical exams in all government as well as private colleges in the state.
For the time being, India is reporting less number of cases but the fear of the third wave is still there and many studies are suggesting that the third wave could hit the country in a few months. However, the state government has decided to conduct these exams while following strict Covid-19 safety protocols.
At a time, when more doctors are needed in the state to deal with the pandemic situation, the final-year exams were on hold and the state was not able to recruit these medical students to the healthcare service.
Earlier, a plea was filed in the Supreme court for the postponement of the final year MD exams due to the pandemic. However, the court said that each university across the state sets its own exam schedule and the court cannot pass a general order to postpone these exams.
