The Delhi High Court has asked the Centre and the National Board of examinations (NBE) to consider the grievance of an MBBS student regarding the extension of NEET PG 2021 application date. The student named Siddharth Mittal had filed a plea in court, seeking an extension of the date of application for registration of NEET PG 2021 exam. While hearing the petition, the Bench of Justice Prateek Jalan asked the Centre to come up with a solution on the matter before the next date.

The matter has been posted to July 12. The Court also asked the concerned stakeholders to check whether the date of completion of internships by applicants can also be extended.

The plea also highlighted the deferment of NEET PG 2021 exam, causing problems to students. NEET PG 2021 was originally scheduled to be held on April 18 but postponed due to Covid-19. As per the revised date announced by NBE, the exam will be conducted on September 11.

Despite the change in the exam date, cut off date for completion of the internship remains the same, June 30, 2021. The plea contends that as the exam has been delayed by such a long duration, those who completed the internship after June 30 should also be allowed to fill NEET PG 2021 application form for the exam. The Court has directed the stakeholders to see whether that’s feasible.

Earlier on July 29, the Centre approved 27 per cent OBC and 10 per cent EWS quota in All India Quota seats in NEET PG 2021 admission. Welcoming the move, several students have demanded the authority to make the registration window active again to take the benefit of the quota system. The application process has already been completed for the exam. NBE will announce the date of issuance of admit card anytime soon.
