Supreme Court Clears Confusion over Private Medical Exams
Supreme Court decision to give a green signal to self financing private medical colleges to conduct entrance exams and the High Court verdict upholding state government's takeover of 50 per cent medical PG seats in self financing medical colleges, has finally cleared the cloud of confusion prevailing in the sector for the past several days.
On 30th June, Supreme Court gave its nod to 11 self-financing private medical college managements to conduct entrance exams for MBBS courses.
The court also directed these colleges to conduct entrance examination within July 15 and publish the results by July 20. Apart from this, Supreme Court extended the period for admissions to the 50 per cent Medical PG government quota till July 1.
On the same occasion, the High Court has upheld the State government decision to take over 50 per cent medical PG seats under the government quota in self financing private medical colleges and cooperative colleges.
Earlier, the government decision had been challenged by the self-financing private college managements and the Pariyaram Medical College in the High Court. Following this, the Government has re-started the allotment process. Moreover, the Christian Management Federation is planning to challenge the HC verdict in the Supreme Court.
