The repeated incidents of paper leaks in Assam have raised serious concerns about examination security and integrity. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible to prevent future occurrences. Students and parents are advised to stay updated with official announcements regarding the rescheduled exam dates.

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has cancelled the Class 11 Mathematics examination following an alleged paper leak, officials confirmed. The authorities have lodged a police complaint and are investigating the incident. A new date for the examination will be announced soon, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu stated.

In a post on X, Pegu shared ASSEB’s official notification regarding the postponement of the Higher Secondary First Year Mathematics exam, which was originally scheduled for March 21, 2025 (Afternoon Session). The notification cited "unavoidable reasons" but did not provide further details.

ASSEB Confirms Paper Leak, Legal Action Expected

A senior ASSEB official, speaking to PTI, confirmed that the Mathematics question paper had been leaked, leading to the cancellation of the examination.

“We are enquiring about the matter and will take legal action soon,” the official said.

The Class 11 Higher Secondary First Year examinations began on March 6 and are scheduled to conclude on March 29.

Class 9 English Exam in Barpeta Also Cancelled

Meanwhile, a similar incident occurred in Barpeta district, where the Class 9 English annual examination scheduled for March 20 was cancelled after the question paper leaked on social media.

Barpeta Inspector of Schools, Ratul Kumar Das, issued an official order to all school heads in the district, informing them of the examination's postponement due to "unavoidable circumstances."

“The next date of the examination will be intimated shortly,” Das stated, without revealing further details.

Paper Leak Suspected, Police Complaint Filed

An official from the District Level Internal Examination Committee (DLIEC) revealed that authorities became aware of the paper leak on Wednesday evening.

“We suspect that the paper went viral on social media. We are verifying all claims. Still, we cannot take any risk, so we have cancelled the examination,” the official said.

Later in the day, DLIEC lodged a complaint regarding the paper leak at Barpeta Sadar Police Station. The Class 9 examinations in Barpeta, which commenced on March 10, were originally scheduled to conclude on March 22.
