Assam Government has decided to re-verify certificates of all suspicious PhD teachers working at various schools in the state. The state government has also decided to merge all the Lower Primary (LP) and nearby Middle English (ME) Schools to prevent the dropout of students from LP to ME.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a review meeting of Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Higher and Technical Education Departments. During the meeting, CM Sarma stated that all infrastructure-related development of schools would be taken up for the merger.
It was decided that all LP and nearby ME schools to be merged to prevent dropout, while SEBA and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) to be merged from next year.
As per the recommendation of the new National Education Policy (NEP) the state government has decided to take out Higher Secondary (HS) classes from colleges at the earliest.
1000 High Schools to be upgraded
The Assam government has also decided that all high schools be converted into HS schools. 1,000 schools to be made HS schools in the first phase.
The state government has also decided to set up a portal for identifying post-graduate teachers in middle & elementary schools. Minimum qualification for future recruitment of teachers to be Post Graduation for middle and high schools.
Certificates of all suspicious PhD teachers to be re-verified.
It has also been decided that the Directorates of Elementary and Secondary Education be merged into one single Directorate of School Education.
The state has also decided to increase the pace for setting up model schools and the PWD department has been asked to urgently submit an estimate for 1,162 proposed cluster hostels.
