CBSE today issued an official statement regarding the issue raised by students over social media, complaining of discrepancies in the CBSE 12th 2026 evaluation process. The Board has also asked students to apply for re-evaluation if they are not satisfied with their marks. Students may also request for corrective action in case there are errors in the evaluated answer books.

CBSE 12th Result 2026 Controversy

Addressing the students’concern over the assessment under On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, the Central Board of Secondary Education today issued an official statement of its social media handle. In the post, Board has defended its OSM system and asked students to apply for re-evaluation if they are not satisfied with their CBSE 12th result 2026.

This year’s pass percentage in CBSE 12th 2026 exam dropped by 3.19%. This is lowest in seven years. The overall pass percentage recorded this year is 85.2%. Following the announcement of CBSE 12th result 2026, several students, educators and parents took to social media, raising concerns regarding the digital evaluation of answer scripts. Students secured less than what they expected, especially in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. There are cases where students cleared JEE exam but failed in CBSE 12th 2026.

Decoding CBSE’s Official Statement

The official statement released by CBSE reads-

Following the declaration of CBSE 12th results, it has been observed that several posts have appeared on social media regarding the assessment under OSM system, particularly related to the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. This system was introduced to enhance transparency, fairness and consistency in the evaluation process, ensuring step-wise marks are offered to students. The Board offers facility for re-evaluation to students who are dissatisfied with their results. They can also apply for copies of their evaluated answer booksIn case any discrepancy is observed, they may request for corrective action.

The Board will accept applications for re-evaluation of marks from May 18. First, students need to obtain a photocopy of their answer scripts. Following that they can apply for re-evaluation. The board will declare the result once the process is complete. Students need to pay the required fees for re-evaluation.
