CBSE Class 12 Practical Exam Dates 2026 Clash with JEE Main Session 1

CBSE Class 12 Practical Exam Dates 2026 Clash with JEE Main Session 1

CBSE & JEE Main 2026 Date Clash: Central Board of Secondary Education is conducting CBSE Class 12 practical exams 2026 from January 1 to February 14 in students respective schools. At same time, JEE Main session 1 is slated to be held on January 21, 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29, 2026. Since both exams fall within same period, some students, particularly those appearing for JEE Main 2026 may face a clash between their CBSE practical exam dates and engineering entrance test schedule.

CBSE Class 12 Practical Exams 2026 ScheduleΒ

Central Board of Secondary Education has announced that CBSE class 12 practical exams will be conducted from January to mid February 2026 for most schools. Winter-bound schools follow a separate, earlier schedule. Unlike theory exams, CBSE does not issue a single, fixed date sheet for practicals instead, schools are given time period to conduct subject-wise practicals within prescribed timeframe.

JEE Main Session 1 Dates 2026Β

JEE Main 2026 session 1 conducted by National Testing Agency is scheduled January 21, 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29, 2026, across multiple shifts with candidates assigned specific dates based on their application details. For many class 12 science students, JEE Main determines eligibility for top engineering institutes.Β

Where Clash Possibility Arises?Β

The concern does not stem from official overlap announced by CBSE or NTA but from overlapping exam windows. Since CBSE practical exams can be scheduled on any day in January by individual schools, there is a possibility that students practical exam for a subject like Physics, Chemistry, or Biology could fall on same day as their allotted JEE Main paper.

Why is this serious concern for students?Β

Class 12th practical exams carry weightage in final CBSE board result and are mandatory to appear. Missing practical exam is not an option for most students. At same time, JEE Main is a national-level competitive exam with fixed dates and limited flexibility. Managing both on same day can be physically exhausting and stressful.Β

While there is no confirmed nationwide date clash, overlap between CBSE practical exam window and JEE Main session 1 does create possibility of individual-level conflicts. Students should plan and communicate clearly with their schools to ensure that neither their board results nor entrance exam performance is compromised.Β
