To be eligible, children should be 3 years old for Nursery, 4 for KG, and 5 for Class 1 as of 31 March 2026.
Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi Government has announced admission schedule for Nursery, KG, and Class 1, in private unaided recognised schools for 2026–27 academic year. Applications will open on December 4, 2025.
In its official circular, DoE states, “all private unaided recognised schools shall commence the admission process on December 4, 2025. The notified schedule must be followed strictly by every institution.” To ensure transparency, schools are required to publish their admission criteria, list of available seats, and point system on their websites by 28 November 2025.
Parents can apply until December 27, 2025. Selection outcome will be shared in phases: first list of selected children will be released on January 23, 2026, and, if seats remain, a second list will follow on February 4, 2026.
According to notification, children should be 3 years old for Nursery, 4 for KG, and 5 for Class 1 as of 31 March 2026. Importantly, the DoE has made clear that “no school shall prescribe any criterion that is discriminatory or unreasonable, and the registration fee shall not exceed ₹25.”
In case of oversubscription, schools are required to conduct a draw of lots in the presence of parents to allocate seats transparently. The admission schedule covers only open-category seats. The DoE has said that separate notifications will follow for EWS (Economically Weaker Sections), DG (Disadvantaged Group), and CWSN (Children With Special Needs) categories.
