GBSHSE has decided to allow schools to set Class 9 examination question papers again from the 2025–26 academic cycle, following feedback from institutions.

Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has decided that schools will once again be responsible for setting question papers for Class IX examinations from the 2025–26 academic year-end assessment cycle.

The board had centrally prepared Class IX question papers during the previous academic year and the first term of 2025–26. The move to return paper-setting responsibilities to schools follows feedback received from institutions after the last assessment cycle, officials said.

As per the revised arrangement, schools will prepare question papers based on a blueprint issued by the board. The papers will be collected cluster-wise and reviewed by senior teachers at the taluka level to check compliance with the prescribed pattern and difficulty level.

Schools will continue to evaluate answer scripts and upload marks on the board’s portal. The Goa Board will retain supervisory oversight and may use well-framed school-prepared papers to strengthen its internal question bank in the future.
