Maharashtra Board Exam 2026: With MSBSHSE SSC and HSC board exams approaching, Maharashtra State Board has clarified that the centre exchange system will be implemented only at exam centres that do not have CCTV surveillance. Earlier, the board had planned to send invigilators from one school to another to prevent copying during exams.
However, teachers and principals raised concerns, saying it would be difficult to supervise exams at unfamiliar schools and manage long travel distances, especially when they also have regular classes to conduct. Taking these concerns into account, the board limited the exchange system to centres without CCTV, easing travel and supervision issues.
As per local media reports, Tanaji Mane, chairman of Maharashtra Principals' Association, said, "Nearly 90-95 per cent of exam centres already have CCTV cameras. The remaining schools couldn't install them due to budget constraints, but should be fully equipped by next year. Exchanging centres for such a small number of schools is unnecessary."

The board officials conduct HSC exam in two shifts : morning shift from 11am to 2.10 pm and evening shift from 3pm to 6.10pm. The timings for all streams : Science, Commerce, Arts and general remains the same. All the students appearing for their board examination should reach their respective centers well before time to avoid unnecessary chaos.
Maharashtra HSC exams are held in two shifts. The Morning Shift is conducted from 11 am to 2.10 pm. The evening shift is held from 3 pm to 6 .10 pm. Students need to reach the exam centre on time.
Maharashtra SSC Timetable 2026 was released on Oct 31, 2025. The exams are conducted between February 20 and March 18, 2026. It is held in pen and paper format.
Earlier, the association had met board officials in January to share their concerns over centre exchanges, CCTV requirements and added duties for custodians. Clarifying this, the board officials wrote to division heads last week, stating: "Instead of replacing all employees at all examination centres, only those at centres without CCTV cameras should be replaced. Ensure appropriate planning for the February-March 2026 exams and submit a report of the action taken."
Also, many more centres are gearing up with camera surveillance ahead of board exams. However, those who do not manage to do it this year won't be allocated as board exam centres for next year. These centres must also store surveillance data from cameras and drones and funds have been allocated to district officers for the same. Examinations held for the five main subjects and sensitive board centres are to be monitored closely.
