Maharashtra HSC English Exam: A mass copying has been reported at Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district during HSC or Class 12 English examination paper.
An FIR has been registered against a total of 23 persons including invigilators, confirmed police. The incident took place while Class 12 exam was being conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, at Jaitapur in Kannad taluka on February 10, 2026.
“A case of mass copying was detected in Rashtriya Higher Secondary School at Jaitapur as the examinees were found copying from each other’s answer sheets. It was also confirmed in the CCTV footage,” said an official of Devgaon Rangari police station, as reported by The Print.
"After going through the CCTV footage, the vigilance committee initiated action and an offence was registered against 23 people, including the Zilla Parishad teachers who were invigilators, and other members of the team,” added the statement.

Probe initiated in mass copying in Maharashtra HSC English Exam 2026

According to chairperson of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Nandkumar Bedse an inquiry has been initiated in the matter and action against the students will be taken as per regulations.
"The education officer found students with photocopies of answers. Some were sitting close to each other and cheating. She reviewed the CCTV camera footage and took it into her custody as evidence. Since the state board has taken strict measures to ensure cheating does not happen, such cases will be exposed," said Bedse, as quoted by TOI.
During the exam, a total of 327 students appeared in English exam on that centre. From today onwards, the centre will get new staff to supervise and conduct pending exams.
