Maharashtra HSC Exams 2026: The controversy surrounding Maharashtra HSC Board Exam 2026 has deepened after police confirmed that MSBSHSE class 12 Mathematics question paper was allegedly shared on WhatsApp just 20 minutes before exam began on February 21. Earlier, similar incidents were reported in Maharashtra HSC Physics and Chemistry papers. With this, three HSC papers are now under investigation in Nagpur. A junior college principal has been arrested in this matter.

Maharashtra HSC Maths Paper Shared Before Exam Time

According to investigators, Maharashtra HSC Mathematics paper was shared in a WhatsApp group at 10:38 am, around 20 minutes before start of board exam. The message was later deleted, but police were able to trace its circulation during the probe.  This emerged during an ongoing investigation into earlier Physics (February 16) and Chemistry (February 18) paper leak cases.

Maharashtra HSC Board Exam Paper Leak: WhatsApp Forwarding Chain Exposed

Investigators found a clear forwarding chain involving multiple WhatsApp groups. Maharashtra HSC Chemistry question paper allegedly moved from one group to another before reaching a student group of 20 members. Police said Physics paper was also circulated through similar groups. On February 21, Maharashtra HSC Maths question was also posted in a group linked to a tuition centre.

While the origin of Maths paper is still being traced, police claim they have identified the source of the Physics and Chemistry papers. Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has clarified that it is not treating this incident as Maharashtra HSC paper leak.

A senior official from Nagpur Divisional Board said that since students were already inside exam hall, it was not possible to misuse the circulated papers widely. He described it as a copy case rather than a leak and ruled out possibility of a Maharashtra HSC re-exam. The board has replaced staff at the concerned exam centre.
