SBI YFI Fellowship Programme: The State Bank of India (SBI) has opened registrations for the 13th batch of its flagship initiative, the Youth for India (YFI) Fellowship Programme. This unique fellowship aims to provide young, dynamic individuals with the opportunity to work directly with rural communities across India, contributing to sustainable rural development through a collaborative approach with 13 partner NGOs.

About Youth for India Fellowship

The 13-month fellowship is designed to provide educated urban youth—graduates and young professionals—between the ages of 21 and 32 years an opportunity to be part of India’s rural transformation. As part of this programme, the fellows will work in rural areas to address critical challenges in areas such as health, livelihoods, education, and sustainability.

The application process for the SBI YFI Fellowship Programme is now open, and aspirants can apply online through apply.youthforindia.org. According to the official statement, candidates must be Indian citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), or citizens of Bhutan or Nepal to be eligible for the fellowship.

Through these focus areas, the programme aims to address pressing challenges in rural India, empowering local communities and providing valuable support to existing development initiatives.

Hands-On Experience in Grassroots Development

The fellowship offers hands-on experience in grassroots development and provides participants with the opportunity to work closely with local communities. Fellows will gain essential skills in leadership, project management, and problem-solving, preparing them for future roles as social change agents.

The programme not only fosters personal and professional growth but also allows young people to be directly involved in the development of rural India. Over the past 12 years, 640 fellows have participated in the programme, making significant contributions to the welfare and empowerment of rural communities across the country.

Impact and Achievements

The SBI YFI Fellowship has already had a significant impact. According to the press release, the programme has impacted over 1,50,000 lives through various grassroots interventions and community engagement initiatives. Fellows have contributed to a wide range of sustainable development projects across 20 states, bringing about tangible improvements in rural areas.

By connecting young professionals with the rural community, SBI’s initiative has bridged the gap between urban youth and rural challenges, creating a sustainable model for rural transformation.
