BSEB notifies new policies on passing marks, grace marking for Class 10th, Class 12th
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) will release Class 10th results and Class 12th results shortly. The board has recently released new policies on passing marks and grace marking for Class 10th and Class 12th students. According to the official website, in order to pass Class 12th intermediate exam, aspirants should secure 30% of total marks in theory portion of each subject and 40% of total marks in practical of each subject.
- 1st division – 300
- 2nd division – 225
Grace marks: If a student fails in one subject only by not more than 8% marks or in two subjects by not more than 4% marks in each, he/she will be given the marks he/she is short of. If someone has secured 75% marks in aggregate but has failed in one subject only by not more than 10% marks and cannot be allowed to pass under any other regulation, will be declared to have passed.
BSEB passing criteria for Class 10th matric:
Students of Class 10th have to secure a total of at least 30 marks out of 100. In order to qualify, a student should get an aggregate of 150 marks. They should have passed in all subjects except English and optional subjects to be declared as passed. In social science, a student has to pass in theory and Internal assessment (literacy activity and project work) altogether obtaining at least 30 marks out of 100. For science, one needs to pass in theory and internal assessment examination altogether, obtaining at least 30 marks out of 100.
In 2018, around 12.80 lakh students appeared for BSEB Class 12th exam which was held from February 6 to February 16 at 1,384 centres across the state. While around 17.70 lakh students took BSEB Class 10th examination held from February 21 to Feb 28.
BSEB this year has introduced a new pattern of questions for Class 10 and 12 examinees with 50% of objective-type questions. The board also introduced a stipend of Rs 1,200 for Class 10 toppers. The Class 11 students will have to secure a minimum of 60% marks to be eligible for scholarships in Class 12th.
