Allahabad Fee Hike Protest: Violence breaks out between police and students, several injured

A scuffle erupted at Allahabad University between its students and police after the protesting students were badly manhandled by the security guards. A per reports, thesecurity guards opened fire as the clash intensified which injured around six students and policemen.

Its over 100 days since Allahabad University students have been protesting against the fee hike. The protest was peaceful so far. The scuffle began after the former student leader Vivekanand Pathak was stopped by the guards from entering the campus, as reported by the Times Now.

The clash between guards and students intensified and led to stone pelting by the students. Security guards opened fire and started beating the students. Meanwhile, the agitated students started vandalizing several vehicles parked inside the varsity premises. Around half-a-dozen injuries have been reported until now.

The matter was escalated to the DM's office and an additional police force was sent to the university to handle the matter. The authorities spoke to the agitated students and with students' leader Vivekanand Pathak. Prashant Kumar, ADG Law, and order also went to the university to manage the situation. Prashant Kumar said, "The situation is now under control. CP Prayagraj and other officials are present at the spot. Police monitoring the situation"
