BHU to start six-month certification program on AI from Feb 1

The Department of Computer Science at Banaras Hindu University is going to start a specialized training and certification program on Artificial Intelligence (AI) leading to job roles of AI - Applied Scientist and Data Scientist. This program is specifically designed and focused on training university students and also reskilling working professionals. The training curriculum is based on the framework of NASSCOM.

It will cover introductory and advanced topics in AI like Introduction to AI and Big Data, Statistical Concepts & Applications, Statistical Tools, Importing & Preprocessing Data, Exploring & Manipulating Data, Data Structures & Algorithms, Graph & String Algorithms, Artificial Neural Networks, Programming for Data Science, Programming in Python, Creating Visualizations, Managerial Skills, Organizational Behavior, Persuasive Communication etc. 

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has now become a technology with national importance and wider applications in various areas. In 2018, NITI Aayog published India’s National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence (NSAI) which highlighted the economic potential of AI. According to a recent report from Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Data and AI could create over 20 million jobs in technical roles alone and have the potential to create more jobs in peripheral roles. There is a requirement of trained experts in these areas to position India as the global hub for data and AI. The Government of India has thus been focusing on promoting programs to build these capabilities among Indian youth.

In this context, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has supported Department of Computer Science at BHU for the training program. This training will be imparted to students and individuals who are either working or aspiring to work in targeted areas. The program will be run from February to July 2023. The registration will open on 12 January 2023.

Registration closes on 25^th January. There are a total of 100 seats for which admission will be on the basis of entrance test. Registration can be done online by going to the website https://textanalytics.in/ai/. The training is free of charge for the participants, and all the participants who complete the training successfully will receive a certificate. The program will be offered by the Department of Computer Science, BHU.
