DU Admission 2020: Registration to end on July 4; students face difficulty to get disability certificate
Delhi University Online Registration process to end on July 4. Students raise their concerns during the second live webinar conducted by the varsity, check details here.
Delhi University's online registration process will be closing on July 4. With only four days left, many students have complained that they are facing several issues while applying for admission, including getting the disability certificates and uploading their videos for music courses on the varsity portal.
This year DU Admission 2020 process was delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The admission to several UG, PG and PhD courses is based on the candidates performance in Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET). Candidates can complete the DUET 2020 Registration on the official website of the University on or before July 4.
With OPDs at most of the government hospitals been shut due to coronavirus pandemic, many students have said that they are unable to get the disability certificate. With rising cases of coronavirus, the students are also scared to visit the hospitals these days to get the certificates. Some students also asked the varsity that whether they will accept the certificates issued by the private hospitals or not.

During the second live webinar by the varsity on Monday, many students asked: How do they procure disability certificates for admission under Persons with Benchmark Disability category?
Professor Bipin Tiwari of DU's Equal Opportunity Cell said that the students can apply for the certificates online and upload the acknowledgment receipt on the admission portal. However, he added, they will need a certificate at the time of admission.
"The students should try and apply online for getting the certificates since certificates from district hospitals are acceptable. Certificates from private hospitals are not acceptable. Students would have had some proof under the category since they would have also shown some proof for their Class 12 boards also," Professor Tiwari said.
He said the university will check if AIIMS could help them in getting the certificates.
During the webinar students also raised their concern that they are not able to upload their videos to get admission to music courses.
The students also said they were unable to upload their videos for admission to music courses. This year, candidates have to upload a seven-minute performance video on YouTube and mark it as unlisted. The admission committee of the music faculty will then shortlist the candidates for an online interview based on the uploaded videos.
Shobha Bagai, Dean (admissions), said that the issue has been resolved now. She agreed that there has been some glitches but they have solved the issues and candidates will not be able to upload their videos and share the link on the registration form.
Some candidates said that there is a discrepancy in the way their name is been spelt on their Class 10 certificate and the one mentioned on their OBC certificate.
"All the applicants are advised to upload the correct certificates. In case there is some error in their certificate, they will have to upload an affidavit stating the correct details. For DU, it will be difficult to verify the correctness of the name without an affidavit," Bagai said.
