IIT Delhi PG Diploma in Solar Systems and Management

IIT Delhi PG Diploma: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has launched its first academic programme at its Sonipat campus in collaboration with International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the Institut National de l'Énergie Solaire (INES), France. This inaugural classes of one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Solar Systems and Management have commenced.

The programme is being offered by IIT Delhi’s Department of Energy Science and Engineering (DESE). Designed as a hands-on training programme, it aims to equip ISA-nominated fellows with practical knowledge and skills in solar technology and its applications.

IIT Delhi PG Diploma: First Batch Has Nine International Fellows

The inaugural batch consists of nine fellows from eight countries. The participants will receive training from IIT Delhi faculty members, experts and industry partners as part of one-year programme. IIT Delhi PG Diploma in Solar Systems and Management has been sponsored by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

International Internship and STAR-C Training

After completing PG Diploma programme, ISA fellows will undertake a one-month internship in Europe focused on applied solar technologies. Following internship, they will be assigned to Solar Technology Application Resource Centres (STAR-C) in their respective countries.

STAR-C centres are designed to strengthen the capabilities of ISA Member Countries by providing skills, infrastructure and an innovation ecosystem to accelerate solar energy deployment. They also aim to strengthen institutions, create green jobs and support sustainable economic growth.

First Teaching Programme at IIT Delhi Sonipat Campus

Prof. Somnath Baidya Roy, Professor-in-Charge of the IIT Delhi Sonipat campus, described launch as a significant milestone for campus. He said IIT Delhi plans to introduce more academic programmes at Sonipat campus in coming years. PG Diploma programme is part of a Framework for Action (FFA) formalised between IIT Delhi and the International Solar Alliance earlier this year.
