University of Mumbai has issued a new examination guideline making it mandatory for candidates to be present in exam hall 30 minutes before the scheduled examination time. The directive will apply to all university MU examinations conducted from 2026-27 academic session onwards.
Mumbai University exam rule notification has been circulated to directors and heads of university departments, principals of affiliated, managed and autonomous colleges, recognised institutions and coordinators of Ratnagiri, Thane and Kalyan sub-campuses. This decision was approved by Examination and Evaluation Board, Management Council and Academic Council.

Colleges Directed to Implement Rule Immediately
The university has instructed all principals, directors, and heads of departments to inform students, teachers and examination staff about revised reporting requirement. Institutions have been asked to ensure strict implementation of the instruction with immediate effect for upcoming examinations under 2026-27 academic year.

Mumbai University has also urged students to follow all examination rules and cooperate with invigilators and examination staff to ensure the smooth completion of the examination process. Those appearing for undergraduate, postgraduate and other university examinations should therefore plan their travel and reach their designated examination centres well before reporting time.
