Mumbai University BE Programme: University of Mumbai has introduced Apprenticeship Embedded B.E. Degree Programmeย  under its Faculty of Science and Technology. This allows selected final-year engineering students to gain one year of industry experience along with their academic degree. It will provide students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while continuing their undergraduate engineering education.

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom education and the practical skills required in the engineering industry. The programme has been designed in line with objectives of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and guidelines of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).ย

Mumbai University BE Programme One-Year Apprenticeship in Seventh and Eighth Semesters

Under new programme, selected final-year BE students will undergo one year of apprenticeship training during seventh and eighth semesters. During this period, students will work in an industry environment and gain exposure to real-world engineering projects, operations and professional practices. The apprenticeship will require students to complete a minimum of 1,260 hours of practical training. On completing training, students will earn 42 academic credits, which will count towards their B.E. degree.

Only 15% of Final-Year Students Eligible

Mumbai University has limited participation in Apprenticeship Embedded BE Degree Programme to up to 15% of final-year BE students. To be eligible, students must have obtained minimum 6.75 CGPA by end of the fifth semester. Selection will be done based on merit, with students having higher CGPAs given preference. Students pursuing Honours, Minor or Honours with Research programmes will not be eligible to opt for apprenticeship-based BE route.
