The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) School of Performing Arts is now inviting applications for its BA Indian Music and BA Western Contemporary Music programmes. The last date to apply for BA Indian Music and BA Western Contemporary Music on or before January 29, 2023.

"NMIMS’s School of Performing Arts has came up with a unique concept of ‘Naad Expression’, a monthly concert for both the Indian and Western Contemporary students The 3-year BA Music–Indian Music (Vocal, Sitar) aims to impart both practical and theoretical knowledge by organising special Riyaz sessions regularly," the institute said.

Whereas, students taking admission in BA Music–Western Contemporary Music (Vocals, Piano, Guitar, Drums) programme will be trained by industry leaders with the overall approach of theory, practical and technological needs. It offers a 40-hour internship programme to third-year students under which they get a chance to work with famous musicians, composers and various production houses.

As per the eligibility criteria, both programmes require candidates to have passed Class 12 or equivalent examinations in any stream and have obtained a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate. Special consideration will be given to students who exhibit special skills and a proclivity to music.

The selection of students for both the programmes will be made on the basis of 2-5 minute unlisted and unedited YouTube videos uploaded by them. Shortlisted students will be called for an online audition at a date provided by the school. The admit card for both the programmes will be issued on or before February 1.

Virtual auditions will be held on or before February 4 for BA Western Contemporary Music and February 6 for BA Indian Music and the merit list will be released on or before February 10, 2023.

The institute said: “Their alumni are enjoying a fulfilling career in music by performing at major venues, and being associated with eminent musicians, and working at prestigious institutes like Artium Academy, the Crossroads School of Music, Swirl Music and Spark Studio. Some students have even formed their own bands and are producing their own music and releasing singles.”
