Hindi-Medium BTech Civil Engineering Course

Hindi-Medium BTech Civil Engineering Course

Shri G S Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS), Madhya Pradesh, has introduced a Hindi-medium BTech programme in Civil Engineering from 2026-27 academic session. The initiative is aimed at making technical education easier to access for students who have studied in Hindi-medium schools.

Under this programme, 30 seats have been reserved for dedicated Hindi-medium batch in Civil Engineering. Around 20 students have already taken admission to course for current academic session. The initiative will allow students to study core engineering subjects in Hindi instead of facing immediate challenge of learning technical concepts in English.

SGSITS Prepared Hindi Study Material

The institute had been preparing for Hindi-medium engineering programme for several years before launching it. Vivek Tiwari, assistant professor in the Civil Engineering Department at SGSITS, said that institute experts had been working on translating English technical study material into Hindi for the past four years. The translated material is expected to help students understand engineering concepts more easily and follow their coursework in Hindi.

INR 2 Lakh Incentive for Students

Students admitted to special Hindi-medium Civil Engineering batch will be eligible for a INR 2 lakh incentive from Madhya Pradesh government when they reach final year of BTech programme, as per media reports. This financial support is intended to encourage students to continue their engineering education and complete programme.

Initiative Aims to Support Hindi-Medium Students

The programme has been introduced in line with objectives of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages use of Indian languages in higher and technical education. As per institute, many students who study in Hindi medium until Class 12 face difficulties when they enter engineering courses where most teaching and study material is available in English.

Sunil Ajmera, head of Civil Engineering Department at SGSITS, said the institute had observed that several Hindi medium students struggled to understand engineering concepts in English. In some cases, the language barrier also resulted in students dropping out of their courses.
