Delhi schools reopen tomorrow for Class 6 and above

Schools in Delhi-NCR have received permission to reopen from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). According to the report, schools in the Delhi-NCR will reopen in a phased manner. The Delhi government has decided to open schools for Class 6 and above from tomorrow, i.e. December 12 upon receiving directions from the central air quality commission. The government has given approval on school reopening considering the nod received from CAQM. However, the government is yet to release guidelines on school reopening. ANI in its tweet reported, "All schools to resume physical classes for class 6 onwards from 18th December, says Delhi Government."

Even though the Commission for Air Quality Management has given its approval for reopening of the schools, the air quality in the national capital region still remains in the 'very poor' quality range. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi stood at 339 on Friday. According to the India Meteorological Department report, the temperature in Delhi dropped to around 8°C covering the National Capital in a layer of ‘shallow fog’.

On December 2, the Delhi government directed that schools in the National Capital will remain closed until further orders after the Supreme Court pulled it up for opening them amid the rising air pollution.
