As the schools and educational institutes remain closed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, various academic activities are being conducted via virtual mode. The education minister conducted a meeting with all the state education secretaries yesterday where he suggested that all secondary school students should be provided with digital devices to make online learning more accessible during the pandemic.

During the virtual meeting, Ramesh Pokhriyal discussed the status of online education in schools during the pandemic. He also talked about how students continue with online classes despite challenges faced during the pandemic. Apart from the status of online education during the lockdown, the education minister also discussed the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) in schools during the meeting. He will also be meeting with the VCs of Central Universities soon.

Stressing on the importance of continuous education for all the students residing in remote and inaccessible areas as schools remain closed during the COVID-19 lockdown, Mr Pokhriyal further suggested the use of Bharat Net to connect all the schools for smoother communication. He also suggested the use of the Manodarpan platform to keep a check on the mental health and well-being of teachers during this pandemic.
