AICTE asks institutions to follow COVID-19 precautions to conduct classes, exams
Health Ministry has been continuously reviewing and monitoring the COVID- 19 situation in the country.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has asked institutions to take necessary precautions related to COVID-19 in conducting offline classes or holding examinations.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has requested to ensure strict enforcement of COVID appropriate behaviour at all times and at all places in universities, colleges and other institutes of Higher Education.
The Health Ministry has been continuously reviewing and monitoring the COVID- 19 situation in the country to ensure that the multipronged surveillance, prevention and containment strategy is effectively implemented by the States/UTs. The ultimate aim is to contain the spread of the COVID-l9 virus and various associated variants of Concern (VoCs), reduce the number of hospitalizations & deaths.
AICTE has also been constantly monitoring the academic activities in the institutions that come under its purview and issued appropriate guidelines from time to time in respect of Payment of fees, Payment of Salary to faculty members, discoursing fake news, online classes and semester examination, internship, sharing of internet bandwidth with other colleges/institutions in view of COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown.
The recent AICTE notice states: “In view of the above, it is once again requested that the technical institutions may take appropriate decision with regard to the opening of campuses; conducting classes and examinations in offline/online/ blended mode in accordance with the guidelines issued by the UGC/AICTE and following COVID appropriate behaviour and necessary protocols/ guidelines/ directions /advisories issued by the Central/State Governments or competent authorities from time to time, in view of the COVID- 19 Pandemic.”
