AICTE calls for creation of OHCHR-UNESCO Chairs on Human Rights

AICTE issued a circular for the creation of OHCHR-UNESCO Chairs on Human Rights Economy.

All India Council For Technical Education has written to the Vice Chancellors, Directors, and Principals of Technical Universities to call for the creation of OHCHR-UNESCO Chairs on Human Rights Economy.

UNIISCO alongwith the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is launching an initiative to establish joint Chairs on Human Rights Economy within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisation signed in 2019.

The establishment of OHCHR-UNESCO Chairs on Human Rights Economy will draw on the experience and existing infrastructure of the university twining and networking (UNITWIN)/UNESCO Chairs- a strategic resource of over 900 higher education institutions across 120 countries aimed at strengthening connections between research, development policy and practice at country, at regional and global levels.

Applications are invited for joint UNITWIN)/UNESCO Chairs cycle. The selection criteria to be applied to this initiative is mentioned in the existing guidelines and procedures of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs programme. The OHCHR-UNESCO Chairs established within the framework of this initiative will be included in the database of UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks and will benefit from the activities and opportunities provided to the current members of the network.

The application deadline is September 30, 2023. The online application portal (https://www.unesco.org) is available for direct submission of applications by host institutions and for the validation by the National Commission.
