BITS Pilani Placement Rate Rises to 80.08% in 2025, Despite Challenging Market Conditions
BITS Pilani achieved over 80 percent placements by July 2025, 11 percent year-on-year increase, with 14% rise in median salary and encouraging growth in PhD hiring.
BITS Pilani has released its interim placement report for graduating class of 2025 recording 80.08% placement rate as of July end 11% increase compared to same period last year. The median salary for BITS Pilani’s 2025 graduating batch rose by 14% to INR 19.4 LPA, up from INR 17 LPA last year. Across BITS Pilani’s campuses in India, placement cycle has reflected broader market trends while hiring in IT services and startups remains subdued, demand has held strong in quantitative trading, core engineering, consulting, and research intensive roles.
BITS Pilani PhD Placement Performance
One of highlights of this year’s placement season was successful placement of nearly 100 PhD scholars across BITS Pilani’s Indian campuses. Out of total, 42 scholars secured roles in industry, while 58 opted for academic positions, underscoring the dual appeal of BITS Pilani’s research talent. Leading companies such as Saint-Gobain, Cipla, Tech Mahindra, and Granules have recruited for R&D roles, reflecting a rising demand for deep research capabilities in the industry.
Practice School Model Continues to Drive Pre-Placement Offers
BITS Pilani’s flagship six-month Practice School internship program remained a key contributor to pre-placement offers, reinforcing its role in bridging academia and industry. Over 500 organisations participated in the placement process, spanning a wide range of sectors. Notable recruiters included Tower Research, Quadeye, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, BCG, and Kearney.
Speaking on the achievement, Prof Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani said, “Campus hiring this year has been shaped by sharper sector preferences. While large-scale IT recruitment slowed, we saw strong demand in areas like trading, consulting, core engineering, and R&D.”
