According to experts and students, nine questions in the NTA JEE Main January session might be wrong as per the provisional answer key released on February 4. These questions can be challenged, and out of these nine questions, seven questions might be dropped, which can lead to bonus marking.

Bonus Questions in JEE Main 2026: 9 Questions Objectionable as per Provisional Answer Key

According to experts and students, nine questions in the NTA JEE Main January session might be wrong as per the provisional answer key released on February 4. These questions can be challenged, and out of these nine questions, seven questions might be dropped, which can lead to bonus marking.

NTA has officially stated that, if a question is found to be incorrect or the question is dropped, then four marks (+4) will be awarded to all Candidates who appeared for that particular shift.

The NTA JEE Main 2026 answer key challenge window will close today, February 6. The answer key challenge window started on February 4 at jeemain.nta.nic.in. To challenge the answer keys, candidates have to login with JEE Main application number and password. To challenge each question, candidates have to pay INR 200.

Bonus Questions in JEE Main 2026

As per the experts, 7 out of the 9 challenging questions might be dropped and will lead to bonus marking for the candidates.

The bonus questions are from the Nuclear Physics topic in the Physics paper in the morning shift and from the Electrochemistry topic in the Chemistry paper in the evening shift of the January 28 exam.

In the January 23 exam, questions related to NLM and Error and Measurement in Physics can be dropped and lead to bonus marks.

From the January 22 exam, a question on wave optics in the Physics paper in the evening shift might be dropped, and bonus marks were demanded.

Question for Objection in JEE Main 2026

Along with the bonus questions in the JEE Main 2026 exam in session 1, the following list of questions is marked as ambiguous or incorrect answers that can be challenged for correction.

  1. January 21 (Morning Shift): Chemistry - Thermodynamics
  2. January 22 (Evening Shift): Physics - Wave Optics
  3. January 23 (Morning Shift): Chemistry - Halogen Derivatives
  4. January 23 (Evening Shift): Physics - Newton’s Laws of Motion (NLM) and Error & Measurement
  5. January 24 (Evening Shift): Physics - Kinetic Theory of Gases (KTG) and Thermodynamics
  6. January 24 (Evening Shift): Mathematics - Vectors
  7. January 28 (Morning Shift): Physics - Nuclear Physics
  8. January 28 (Evening Shift): Chemistry - Electrochemistry

The final answer key and the result of JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam will be out by February 12 at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
