Govt identifies 29 institutes for imparting engineering education
The ministry of education apprised Rajya Sabha that the government has identified as many as 29 institutes in 10 states for imparting engineering education.
Through a written reply in Rajya Sabha, the ministry of education said that around 29 institutes across ten states in seven regional languages including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu have been identified for imparting engineering education in one or more disciplines.
The ministry also added that financial assistance is being provided to the poor students so that they can get technical education.
The ministry stated that they are implementing various schemes to offer financial aid to students including students from Uttar Pradesh, these schemes are called Sector Scheme of Scholarship for Colleges and University Students (CSSS), AICTE Doctoral Fellowship (ADF), Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students, Saksham Scholarship Scheme for specially abled students, Post Graduate (PG) scholarship, Central Sector Interest Subsidy Scheme (CSIS).
The minister of state in the ministry of education, Subhas Sarkar replied to the question on providing technical education in the mother tongue. He said, "In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to impart education in the Indian languages for an improved understanding and improved teaching-learning outcome, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has initiated technical education in Indian Languages in the year 2021-22. To provide the engineering course material in Indian Languages, AICTE has introduced AICTE Technical Book Writing and Translation in 12 scheduled Indian languages," as reported by TOI.
"For the first year, 22 books have been translated into nine Indian languages. In 2022-23, AICTE has already initiated the process for the second original book writing in English. 88 subjects have been identified by AICTE for the second year and its chapter wise translation into 12 Indian Languages has been initiated," he added.
