How CET Cell Maharashtra Conducts MHT CET & What Could Change with Offline Exam Demand?
While stakeholders demand an offline exam for MHT CET 2027 and for it's upcoming sessions check how the exam is conducted and impact of the proposal. Though it is unlikely to be implemented for the current session, future aspirants and parents of prospective students must give this a read to know how CET Cell currently conducts MHT CET and what could change.
A group of stakeholders have demanded that the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test be conducted in offline mode and that each of the two attempts be held on a single day for all candidates. The demand was raised by admission counsellors and parents during a protest in Mumbai. However, the proposal has not been accepted or announced as an official change by the CET Cell.
At present, the MHT CET exam is conducted as a computer-based test (CBT). Candidates who apply for the exam will be issued the admit cards to appear at test centres across Maharashtra.Β The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Cell CET Cell conducts the online exam for admission into engineering and pharmacy courses across the state. It manages the examination process from registration and centre allocation to conducting the test, declaring results and finally the admission process.
The examination is conducted separately for the PCM and PCB groups.Β Last year, the authorities introduced the bi-annual format. Candidates could appear in both attempts, with the better performance considered for admission. The introduction of two attempts was aimed at giving students another opportunity to improve their performance.

What Has Been Proposed for MHT CET 2027?
The latest demand seeks to move MHT CET from the existing computer-based format to an offline, pen-and-paper examination. Stakeholders have also proposed that both attempts should be conducted for all candidates on a single day instead of spreading the examination across multiple sessions or dates.Β The proposal comes at a time when the CET Cell has started preparations for the 2027-28 examination cycle. The authorities have invited subject experts for question paper setting, item writing and review for various CET examinations. However, the latest notice does not itself announce any change to the MHT CET PCM or PCB examination mode.

Offline MHT CET 2027: What Could Change for Students?
If the proposal is accepted then students will face a big change in the format. Instead of answering questions on a computer, candidates will have to mark their answers physically. The proposed single-day examination could also change the way the CET Cell plans centres, question papers, invigilation and logistics. A common exam day for all candidates would require the Cell to arrange sufficient infrastructure to accommodate the large number of MHT CET aspirants simultaneously. However, these changes are only discussions. The CET Cell has not announced that MHT CET 2027 will be conducted offline.
Will MHT CET 2027 Be Conducted Offline?
There is no official confirmation yet that MHT CET 2027 will be conducted in offline mode. The demand for an offline examination has been made by stakeholders and is not an official decision of the Maharashtra CET Cell. The final examination mode, schedule, pattern, syllabus and other details will be confirmed through the official MHT CET 2027 notification and information brochure. Until then, students should continue preparing based on the existing examination pattern rather than assuming that the test will be shifted to pen-and-paper mode.
