IIIT Allahabad to start Eight-year UG-PG integrated programme

The Course will have multiple entry and exit options with degree, diploma and certificates

Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad is planning to launch an eight-year course. The programme will be flexible in nature and is being designed as per the new National Education Policy (NEP)

The institute is planning to admit students from the next academic year, 2022-23 through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains and Advanced. The NEP recommends the 5+3+3 model of school education and in line with that students of class XI will also be able to take admission to the course. At present only class XII pass students are eligible to take admissions in IIITs.

The course will offer multiple entry and exit options to students. Students will get the certificate on completion of the first year, skill certificate on completion of the second year, diploma in the third year, bachelor's degree in the fourth year, PG diploma in the fifth year, PG degree in the sixth year and in the eighth year they will get a PhD degree.

IIIT Allahabad has finalized the syllabus and will be sending it to the Ministry of Education for implementation. After getting approval, admission will be done in the academic session 2022-23.

The institute is not just offering the option of getting a degree, diploma or certificate and PhD in eight years The Once you take admission, you will be able to get a degree from certificate to research in eight years. Along with this, students will also get the facility to study every semester from different institutes at their convenience.

The institute is also looking at collaboration with different institutions to facilitate the movement of students.

IIIT Allahabad Senate has constituted a committee to prepare formalities regarding the conduct of this course. The institute will also hold a national seminar in December to popularize the course, in which senior officials of people AICTE, AIU and NITI Aayog, and Union Ministry of Education participate along with academics from IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other universities will participate.
