IIT Guwahati hails Union Budget 2022
Institute Director TG Sitharam says will execute projects in a majority of the initiatives introduced under the Union Budget 2022.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has hailed the Union Budget 2022 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 2. TG Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati, said, “IIT Guwahati will execute projects in a majority of the initiatives introduced under the Union Budget 2022. The announcement of incentives for startups to extend the period of incorporation by one more year will help in the promotion of startups.”
Digital services to farmers to help boost already existing initiatives at institute
An official statement released by the institute read, “The Guwahati campus has set up a school for agro and rural technology along with a centre for drone technology to help farmerput. The services of delivery of digital and hi-tech services to farmerss with modern technological tools to widen their productivity and output. The services of delivery of digital and hi-tech services to farmers, ‘kisan drones’, revised agricultural syllabi in universities and blended capital funds, will help boost already existing initiatives and programmes at IIT Guwahati.”
On the setting up of five academic institutions as centres for excellence for urban planning, the Director said, “The north-east region being one of the major regions where urbanisation is occurring rapidly, setting up such an Urban Planning Centre for excellence at IIT Guwahati as part of its curriculum will bring about a major fillip to this initiative in the region.”
