IIT Kanpur Launches Online M.Tech, M.Sc., and PG Diploma Programs; Check Eligibility, Exemptions

Learners will have the opportunity to continue working while pursuing higher education and earn senate-approved degrees and diplomas of IIT Kanpur

Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has announced admissions for its newly launched master’s level online M.Tech, M.Sc, and Postgraduate Diploma (PG Diploma) courses for working professionals.

Prof. Vimal Kumar, Professor-in-Charge of Office of Outreach Activities sharing details said that IIT Kanpur’s new online M.Tech., M.Sc., and PG Diploma programs combine flexibility of digital learning with IITK’s academic rigor, preparing students for leadership in technology, economics, and emerging fields.

“Whether you are a professional, a graduate, or a lifelong learner, these programs provide an opportunity to enhance your expertise, sharpen your skills, and make a meaningful impact,” he added.

IIT Kanpur release reads: “These programs are designed to equip learners to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving world and to contribute meaningfully to national and global progress.”

The newly announced programmes include M.Tech (Online) in Wireless Networks & Machine Learning, RF Engineering, Microelectronics & VLSI; M.Sc. (Online) in Economics and Data Analytics; and PG Diplomas (Online) in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Cyber Security, and Renewable Energy Technologies.

To be eligible for admission for IIT Kanpur’s new online programs, applicants must have a minimum CPI of 5.5 or 55% marks in their qualifying degree. Admission will be either through valid national level test scores (GATE/JAM/CEED/CAT/GRE/GMAT) meeting department specific cut off marks, or through IIT Kanpur’s online entrance test.

Departments might also introduce additional requirements such as relevant academic background, core coursework, professional or research experience, CPI thresholds, or an extra test and or interview.

Exemptions from the online test apply to professionals with over five years of relevant experience and those nominated or sponsored by government or defense organizations.

Learners will gain flexible learning options, M.Tech / M.Sc. (2–4 years) and PG Diplomas (1–2 years), direct mentorship, and live sessions with IIT Kanpur faculty. They will have the opportunity to continue working while pursuing higher education and earn senate-approved degrees and diplomas awarded at IIT Kanpur’s convocation
