IIT Ropar, NIT Jalandhar, NIT Srinagar sign pact for academic collaboration
The institutes will work in the areas of mutual interest such as exchange of students and faculty, joint supervision of PhD students, joint workshops and seminars.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar and NIT Jalandhar have signed an agreement for collaborative research and academic activities. The institutes will be working in the areas of mutual interest such as exchange of students and faculty, collaborative research works, joint supervision of PhD students, joint workshops and seminars.
The agreement was signed between IIT Ropar Director Rajeev Ahuja, NIT Srinagar Director Rakesh Sehgal and NIT Jalandhar Director RK Garg.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a part of IIT Ropar’s initiative to welcome meritorious students from NITs to spend their final semester(s) at IIT Ropar, pursue some course, and also work on a project.
The students will be evaluated on the basis of performance. They have to go through a rigorous selection process and subject to their continued excellence, they will be given an early admission to PhD courses at IIT Ropar.
Under the MoU, NIT Srinagar faculty can also apply for postdoc positions or other opportunities available at IIT Ropar. As per the MoU, research scholars from NIT Srinagar and NIT Jalandhar can visit state-of-the-art laboratories and other facilities at IIT Ropar.
The upcoming establishments at NIT Srinagar and NIT Jalandhar aim at promoting startups, capacity-building, innovations and research in various domains related to water/industry discharge assessment, treatment and management, advancement of land resources and farm preparation, agriculture automation and precision farming and agribusiness marketplace.
