Is BITSAT Really the Toughest Private Engineering Entrance Exam?
Every year, lakhs of students appear for private engineering entrance exams such as BITSAT, VITEEE, SRMJEEE, KIITEE and AEEE. Among these, BITSAT is often considered the toughest private engineering entrance exam by students and experts. But is it actually true? Read below.
Engineering aspirants in the country often appear for several engineering entrances simultaneously to increase their admission chances at the top institutions in the country. Apart from the national-level JEE Mains and other state entrances, students prefer to appear for private engineering entrances. These include BITSAT, VITEEE, KIITEE, SRMJEEE, etc.Β
Since these exams are conducted by different bodies, they have varying levels of difficulty. In fact, out of 1.9k voters of the Shiksha poll, 63% vote BITSAT as the most difficult, followed by VITEEE with 16% votes, AEEE with 10%, SRMJEEE with 6% and finally KIITEE with 4%. Continue reading to find why BITSAT is said to be the toughest and how it compares to other private engineering exams.
Why BITSAT Is Considered the Toughest?
BITSAT stands out because of its unique exam structure and the pool of competition. The exam has 130 questions to be solved in three hours. Students need both clear concepts and speed throughout the 5 sections to perform well. Another major factor that increases the difficulty level is negative marking. BITSAT deducts one mark for every wrong answer, which means students must balance speed with accuracy. In contrast, several other private entrance exams either have no negative marking or have easier questions.

Comparison with Other Private Engineering Exams
Scroll below for a comparison of the difficulty level of BITSAT with VITEEE, SRMJEEE, KIITEE and AEEE.
VITEEE
VITEEE is considered the second toughest private engineering entrance exam. The overall difficulty of the paper is usually moderate compared with BITSAT. The questions focus on fundamental concepts rather than complex application-based problems with too many complex questions.Β
AEEE
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham conducts the AEEE exam, which is also a quite competitive exam. Though it is considered less difficult than BITSAT and VITEEE.Β
SRMJEEE
SRMJEEE is usually considered easier than both BITSAT and VITEEE. The exam includes Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and aptitude sections, but the questions are often easier. It is also conducted as a remotely proctored test, which makes it seem easier for the students due to less mental pressure.
KIITEE
The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology conducts the KIITEE exam. The difficulty level for this exam is quite easy, as reported by students.Β
BITSAT Still Preferred
Despite being tougher, BITSAT remains one of the most preferred private engineering exams. This is because it offers admission to top campuses such as BITS Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. BITS participating institutes have strong placement records and global recognition. Students who aim for top private engineering colleges after JEE Main consider BITSAT as the best alternative.
