NTA successfully conducted the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Shift 1 exam today. The test was over at 12 pm across exam centres on April 2, 2026 and as per the initial feedback received by students, the overall test was moderate and followed a similar pattern to the January session. JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Subject-Wise Analysis
- Students shared that Mathematics was Moderate to Difficult level and remained the most challenging section due to its lengthy and calculation-intensive nature. But mostly students found it doable. Maths had questions from Calculus, Vectors & 3D Geometry, and Coordinate Geometry. Good attempts in Maths were 10-18 questions.
- Physics was rated Moderate. The paper was a balanced mix of conceptual and formula-based questions. High-weightage topics included Mechanics, Modern Physics, and Current Electricity. Good attempts were 20-23.
- As shared by candidates, Chemistry was Easy to Moderate. This was the most scoring section, with many questions directly based on NCERT textbooks. Organic and Inorganic Chemistry had significant coverage. Good attempts were 22-23.
JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Student Reactions
- Many students reported that Maths was lengthy and it was difficult to attempt all questions within the 3-hour limit.
- Reviews suggest 120-130 marks could fetch a 96-97.5 percentile, while 180+ marks are expected for 99+ percentile in this shift.
For candidates appearing in upcoming shifts as the exam will be conducted on April 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8, 2026, experts recommend focusing on NCERT for Chemistry and practicing time-bound problem-solving for Mathematics.
