NTA has released the JEE Main 2026 paper pattern through the information bulletin. Candidates can check the pattern for papers 1 and 2 A & B here. The JEE Mains exam pattern 2026 remains unchanged, bringing respite to engineering aspirants across the country.
NTA has officially released the JEE Main 2026 exam pattern at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The exam pattern of JEE Mains remains the same for this session. Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026 will have MCQs as well as questions of numerical value. The test shall be comprised of a Computer-Based Test except for the Drawing Test for Paper 2A.

JEE Main 2026 Marking Scheme Released
Aspirants can check the official JEE Main 2026 marking scheme below:
- For every correct answer: +4
- Incorrect answer: -1
- Unanswered/Marked for Review: 0 marks
The JEE Main 2026 exam pattern remains consistent with the last year’s pattern changes. The exam will be held from January 21 to 30, 2026 and April 1 to 10, 2026 for sessions 1 and 2, respectively.
No, NTA has not announced any change in JEE Main 2026 exam pattern. However, NTA made changes in JEE Main exam pattern in 2025. As per the current JEE exam pattern, the total number of questions in JEE Main Paper 1 (BE/BTech) are 75, 25 each from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Also, there are no optional question in section B in any subject. Students will need to answer all 5 questions in section B from all three subjects. The marking scheme and total marks remain the same.
Yes, JEE Main exam has negative marking. 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.
