NTA has released the JEE Main 2026 paper pattern through the information bulletin. Candidates can check the pattern for papers 1 and 2 A & B here. The JEE Mains exam pattern 2026 remains unchanged, bringing respite to engineering aspirants across the country.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the JEE Main 2026 exam pattern at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Mains exam pattern remains unchanged for this session. The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026 will include both MCQs and numerical value-based questions. The exam will be held as a Computer-Based Test (CBT), except for the drawing test in Paper 2A.

JEE Main 2026 Marking Scheme Released

Aspirants can check the official JEE Main 2026 marking scheme below:

  • For every correct answer: +4
  • Incorrect answer: -1
  • Unanswered/Marked for Review: 0 marks

The JEE Main 2026 exam pattern remains consistent with the last year’s pattern changes. The exam will be held from January 21 to 30, 2026 and April 1 to 10, 2026 for sessions 1 and 2, respectively.

Q: Β  Is there any change in marking scheme and total number of questions in JEE Main 2026?
A:

The exam pattern of JEE Main 2026 has not been announced yet. As per the current exam pattern, the Paper 1 exam has 75 questions, 25 each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. In Paper 2A and 2B, the total number of questions are 77 and 100, respectively. The total marks of JEE Main Paper 1 is 300, for Paper 2A and 2B its 400.

Q: Β  Is there any change in JEE Main 2026 exam pattern?
A:

No, NTA has not announced any change in JEE Main 2026 exam pattern. However, NTA made changes in JEE Main exam pattern in 2025. As per the current JEE exam pattern, the total number of questions in JEE Main Paper 1 (BE/BTech) are 75, 25 each from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Also, there are no optional question in section B in any subject. Students will need to answer all 5 questions in section B from all three subjects. The marking scheme and total marks remain the same.

Q: Β  Is there negative marking in JEE Main?
A:

Yes, JEE Main exam has negative marking provision. As per the current exam pattern of JEE Main, 4 marks is awarded for every correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.
