What is the reason behind the postponement?

The KCET 2022 counselling and document verification process has been postponed due to the objection raised by some students who passed the Pre-University Course (PUC) in 2020-21, alleging their marks are not being considered for admission.

A section of students approached the Karnataka high court. They claimed that the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) had sent them a note mentioning that their PUC 2020–21 marks would not be taken into account for college admissions through KCET.

"The students who have passed out in 2021, their marks will not be computed for the purpose of giving rankings in the CET. The marks that are obtained in the CET only will be taken into consideration for the purpose of granting rankings. " This is cited in a petition in a KEA note, reported PTI. The petition was filled by Keerthana Y. H and a dozen other students as per news agency.

The document verification process of KCET is expected to begin after the court gives a decision on the repeater candidate's plea. The hearing is scheduled by the Karnataka High Court on August 18, 2022.
