New RD Numbers Mandatory for SC Candidates Applying for UGCET & KREIS 2026

Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has released a notice via its X account (formerly Twitter) related to a directive for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. The notice is regulated for SC students applying for the UGCET 2026 and KREIS 2026 examinations and is regarding their caste certificates and reservation claims. The notice states that candidates will have to create a new RD number to support their case and reservation claims. 

New RD Number is Mandatory KCET Registration 2026

As the notice shared by KEA, H. Prasanna, IAS, Executive Director of KEA, said that SC candidates must enter an RD number that specifically classifies them under the state's newly implemented internal reservation categories: Category A, B, or C.

To fill the online application form of KCET 2026, students must visit the KCET website and apply from there - cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea. Check the dates below -

Key Instructions for Students Applying for KCET:

  • Candidates currently using RD numbers from older caste certificates must know that it will not be considered for seat allocation.
  • To be eligible for reservation benefits, students must have a fresh caste certificate from their concerned Tahsildar reflecting specific internal reservation category (A, B, or C).
  • The RD number must be entered accurately in the KCET online application to allow for automated verification through Revenue Department's web service. 

Candidates are advised to secure their updated certificates immediately to avoid disqualification from the reservation quota during the seat allotment process.
