Merit Calculation to be calculated on Best of 2nd PUC Exam 1 and Exam 2 Marks

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) issued an important notice clarifying the method of merit determination for KCET 2026 candidates. As per the notice released on its official website - cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/ugcet2026, candidates may appear for 2nd PUC Exam 2 on a voluntary basis if they wish to improve their marks obtained in 2nd PUC Exam 1.

What does this notice mean?

KEA stated that while preparing KCET 2026 results and rank list, it will consider highest marks secured by candidates in either 2nd PUC Exam 1 or Exam 2. If a student scores higher in Exam‑2, those marks will be used for KCET merit calculation; otherwise, Exam‑1 marks will be retained.

The authority also clarified that there is no risk or penalty in appearing for Exam‑2, as lower scores will be automatically ignored. This move provides students with an additional opportunity to improve their academic scores and boost their KCET ranks.

The clarification aims to reassure candidates and ensure a fair and beneficial rank preparation process for KCET 2026.
