NAAC has blacklisted 2 Engg colleges, one University for providing false data
The engineering colleges are from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh; University belongs to Rajasthan
The university accreditation agency, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has blacklisted three institutions for providing wrong data. There is one institution each from Rajasthan, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The NAAC has blacklisted Bhagawant University, Ajmer, Rajasthan; Malla Reddy College of Engineering Telangana and Dhanekula Institute of Engineering and Technology, Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh.
While replying to a question on whether the Government has taken note of the reports of widespread malpractices by Universities and colleges to avail accreditation by presenting false data; Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Education informed that the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an Inter-University Centre of the University Grants Commission (UGC), conducts assessment and accreditation of Higher Educational Institutions.
UGC has informed that NAAC’s process of assessment is towards holistic, systematic, objective, data-based, transparent and shared experience for institutional improvement.
He said: “UGC has further informed that if it is proved that an Institution has provided wrong data for Assessment and Accreditation, Executive Committee of NAAC has the power to withdraw the accreditation or blacklist the Institution. NAAC has informed that over the last two years, three Institutions have been blacklisted from the process of Assessment and Accreditation.”
