NHIDCL, NIT Silchar join hands for sharing technology
The aim of the Memorandum of Understanding is to seek and promote innovative technologies to find pragmatic solutions to the challenges posed in the construction of highways facing extreme climatic conditions.
The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), a CPSE under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar. The aim is to seek and promote innovative technologies to find pragmatic solutions to the challenges posed in the construction of highways facing extreme climatic conditions.
The agreement was signed between NIT Silchar Director Prof Sivaji Bandyopadhyay and NHIDCL Managing Director Chanchal Kumar. NHIDCL has also signed MoUs with CSIR-CRRI, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) during the current 2022-23 year.
Earlier, MoUs with IIT Bombay and IIT Guwahati were signed for sharing knowledge of innovative ideas and technologies in the field of highway engineering to upgrade skill and capacity of the core engineering professional of NHIDCL who are working tirelessly for construction of highways, tunnels and other infrastructure in tough geographical areas of North-East region. NHIDCL has also started discussions with other IITs, NITs for signing of MoUs. This will help NHIDCL in introducing innovative technologies and find pragmatic solution to the highways construction issues in challenging hilly and border areas.’
NIT Silchar recently organised its inter-school festival “School Genius”. Students of classes 8 to 12 from across the valley participated in the festival. The festival is a platform for school students not just to showcase their talent, but also to get exposure to the world of technology.
