The Centre for Research Innovation Incubation and Consultancy (CRIIC) and NIT Andhra Pradesh organised a five-day online workshop on ‘Scope for Technopreneurs in Academic Institutions’ from October 4 to October 8, 2021.  

During the workshop, faculty, undergraduate, postgraduate students and PhD research scholars of the National Institute of Technology, (NIT) Andhra Pradesh, were encouraged towards innovation and entrepreneurship skills. The workshop enabled students, researchers and faculty members to get sensitised to incubation, innovation and entrepreneurial activities, thus creating a robust start-up ecosystem in the academic institutions. 

Prof CSP Rao, Director, NIT Andhra Pradesh, said, “The objective of CRIIC and NIT Andhra Pradesh is to nurture the ideas of students into entrepreneurial way. Developing action plan in an organised manner, seeking advice from mentors, learning from mistakes; understanding what it takes to success are some of the thoughtful inputs to be considered before starting a business” 

The key topics covered during the workshop included inculcating the skill of innovation among students; government schemes available for academic institutions; development of entrepreneur competences citing case studies; birds eye view of Make in India, start-up schemes and road maps for successful start-ups by students. 

Prof Rao said, “Teaching-learning process should be oriented in the direction such that societal problems can be addressed through various solutions given by students so that they become technopreneurs. As a part of National Education Policy, it is the duty of the teachers to discuss subjects pertaining to problem-solving skills to inculcate the technopreneur abilities in their minds.”
