NIT-Trichy conducts high-end workshop on AI
The technology institute organized the seven-day workshop in association with the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), Thanjavur.
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy conducted a High-end workshop on the Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Food Processing, sponsored by SERB (Science and Engineering Research Board). The workshop was conducted by NIT Trichy under Accelerate Vigyan Scheme culminated at the technology institute.
The technology institute organized the seven-day workshop in association with the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), Thanjavur.
Along with discussions on various vast topics covered under artificial intelligence, the workshop included a hands-on session on solar-assisted cold storage systems utilising a prototype of two-tonne capacity. The solar-assisted cold storage system is developed at a cost of INR 1.10 crore with funding from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), K Dhanalakshmi, Head, Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering (ICE), said.
The workshop recorded the participation of various education experts. The 25 participants drawn from across the country took part in lecture sessions. N Sivakumaran, Professor, spoke on ‘Application of AI in Food Processing Industries’ and PA Karthick, Assistant Professor, on ‘Deep learning methods in Food Technology'.
Meanwhile, NIT-T has also commenced offline training for students of government schools to crack the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to gain entry into Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and other premier institutes.
The training provided through the institute’s teaching club IGNITTE, under its Impusle initiative, covers Class 11 students of government schools. This year, students of the Trichy and Tirunelveli districts will be undergoing the training under the initiative. The students are selected on the basis of a qualifying test which is conducted by IGNITTE. Out of 400 students who appeared for the screening tests conducted in the two districts, 23 students from Trichy and 26 from Tirunelveli have been selected for the training.
