The collaboration intends to bring in best practices by leveraging each other’s expertise in marine engineering works and address environmental concerns to build a sustainable and robust infrastructure.

RITES, a transport infrastructure consultancy and engineering company, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras to cooperate and explore marine infrastructure works. 

Under the arrangement, RITES and IIT Madras will collaborate for providing engineering consultancy (design and construction supervision), enhancing technical cooperation and knowledge sharing for the development of marine infrastructure works, including navigational studies, etc. 

The partnership intends to bring in best practices by leveraging each other’s expertise in marine engineering works and address environmental (oceanic) concerns to build a sustainable and robust infrastructure. 

IIT Madras launches chair on innovation 

IIT Madras has also launched ‘Venkataraman and Sita Srinivasan Chair' on Innovation and New Product Development for which a sum of US$ 1,60,000 is being endowed by V ‘Seenu’ Srinivasan, Adams Distinguished Professor of Management, Stanford University, the United States. 

Srinivasan is an alumnus of IIT Madras and received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1966. V ‘Seenu’ Srinivasan was formerly the Director of Stanford Business School’s Doctoral Program, Chair of the marketing area, and Faculty Director of its Strategic Marketing Management executive programme. He has received various awards for his significant research contributions in the field of marketing and market research.
