Student died of heart failure: IIT Guwahati

The institute stated that the autopsy report has confirmed chronic coronary insufficiency as the cause of natural death. Hrithik Bhavani was found dead in mysterious circumstances in his hostel room on January 9, 2023. 

Two days after a student was found dead under mysterious conditions in his room at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the institute issued a statement saying the boy died of chronic coronary insufficiency.  

The statement read, “It is with deep regret that IIT Guwahati shares the unfortunate news of the death of a male student on campus on January 9, 2023. The student was found dead on his bed in his room. The institute has cooperated with the police authorities and the autopsy report has confirmed 'chronic coronary insufficiency' as the cause of natural death. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the grieving family,”  

The deceased, Hrithik Bhavani, was a BTech final-year student. He belonged to Nagpur, Maharashtra. He was found dead in mysterious circumstances in his hostel room. In December 2022, Sameer Kamal, a professor at the institute, reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan. Kamal, who belonged to Delhi, was teaching mathematics at the institute. 

Meanwhile, a Class 12 student allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of her apartment building in Meerut. It is said that she was preparing for engineering entrance exam JEE Main. The girl who was wearing school uniform wandered on the roof of the building for about one to one and a half hours before jumping from the fifth floor.
