The minister inaugurated a computer centre established at a cost of INR 47.11 crore and e-classroom built at cost of INR 16.62 crore.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Education Minister, dedicated development works of over INR 63 crores at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur. The minister inaugurated a computer centre established at a cost of INR 47.11 crore and e-classroom built at cost of INR 16.62 crore. While speaking at the occasion, the minister said that NIT Hamirpur is one of the best in the country.

He also pointed out that apart from regular courses the technology institute did its best in discharging social responsibility by disseminating technical and digital knowledge for the society. He said it was time to make people aware of digital technology.

β€œWith the increase in digital financial transactions, it becomes our responsibility to make people aware of e-safety and security. The institute should initiate research works that would benefit the state in various fields,” the minister said.

Union minister Anurag Thakur was also present at the occasion. While speaking at the event, Thakur praised NIT Hamirpur for incubating a number of startups. The minister said it was a matter of pride that the institute had incubated a number of startups that helped youth for entrepreneurship.  He also talked about the patents earned by the institute and that its would further enhance the ranking of NIT.

Earlier, Dharmendra Pradhan visited Thakur Jagdev Chand Memorial Itihas Shodh Sansthan at Neri village. Appreciating the efforts on historical research that is taking place in the institute, he said that Indian history needed to be researched as per available evidence.

He said that the institute had developed a system for research that would help people from across the country and the world.
