WBJEE 2026 Offline Decentralised Counselling Approved?

West Bengal State Higher Education Department has released an official notification giving approval for the institutes to conduct offline WBJEE decentralised counselling 2026. This action has been initiated to fill out the vacant seats left after the completion of two phases of WBJEE DCAP 2026, that was held as an online process by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). This one-time relaxation will help students be eligible for an estimated 21,000 seats left vacant in the participating institutes.

How will the offline WBJEE 2026 decentralised counselling be held?

The Higher Education Department has notified that institutes can undertake the admission process through their own arrangements, including online and physical mode. The list of vacant seats, eligibility and admission process can be published at their official website. However, a copy of the vacancy notice should also be communicated to the Higher Education Department and WBJEEB.

Through the notice, institutes have also been instructed to accept applications for admissions through an official email address. Both applications submitted physically and through email will be accepted for WBJEE 2026 DCAP. For allotment, students will be selected as per their merit, preferences and availability of seats.

WBJEEB will prepare a common online portal for entry of important details related to the admission process. The Higher Education Department requires the institutes to submit details of candidates admitted under this process along with prescribed vacancy and admission particulars at the designated portal on or before October 31, 2026. All admissions have to be completed by October 31.

WBJEE DCAP 2026: State-run Institutions Welcome Decision

West Bengal state institutes have welcomed the decision to conduct offline decentralised counselling. Earlier, Vice-chancellors of Jadavpur University and Calcutta University had written to the Higher State Education Department for permission to conduct offline counselling. Along with the institutes, students have also been raising their voices at various social media platforms for a traditional offline counselling to fill out the vacant seats.
