Gauhati University released Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for final semester exams which are scheduled from September 22. While the University decided to promote the intermediate semester students on the basis of internal assessment marks, final semester undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) semester students will be evaluated using a 50-50 formula -- 50% marks from offline exams and the remaining 50% from internal assessments.

Gauhati University Final Semester Exam Evaluation Scheme 2020

According to Gauhati University’s official statement, the question papers for the final semester examinations will cover the whole syllabus but the students will be required to attempt questions for 50% marks only. The remaining 50% marks will be calculated on the basis of internal assessment.

For intermediate semester students who submitted their examination forms before last date, internal assessment marks, and theory marks in the earlier semesters subject will be considered for evaluation, the university said.

The universities and other academic institutions are closed in the Country since the month of March due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus followed by the nationwide lockdown imposed in order to contain the virus. In order to continue the teaching-learning process along with completing other academic activities, the educational institutions are adopting digital ways such as online exams, online classes and more. Following the University Grant Commission’s latest guidelines, Universities are also exploring ways to conduct final year exams by September.
